Description
Description
Through the 'Eternal' collection, the British artist Damien Hirst presents a series of motifs that can be read as emblematic of the cycle of life, rendered eternal in Lalique crystal.
Damien Hirst was raised as a Catholic and his artwork is often inspired by religious parables or motifs. The single dove carrying an olive branch, as seen here in Eternal Truth, plays upon the conclusive moment of the flood narrative ‘Noah’s Ark’.
The dove – a universally recognizable symbol of hope – has been employed by the artist in numerous formaldehyde works, most notably in The Incomplete Truth (2006) and in The Inescapable Truth (2005).
