Symbol of immortality, renewal and wealth, the peacock is an important subject in the bestiary of the great jewelers of the late 19th century, including René Lalique, who made it the central motif of spectacular Art Nouveau jewels. Greek mythology has it that famous goddess Hera placed the "eyes" on the tail of the peacock.
